CCF RaceFrames® Captive Recoil Guide Rod
Strongly recommended, with a 22 lb spring for use with the G22/24/31/35/37 models.
Glock® employs a 17 lb recoil rod spring for use in all four calibers (9MM, 40 S&W, SIG 357 & 45 GAP). If a 17 lb spring is soft enough to cycle 9MM, it will be on the weak side for the full power calibers on a metal frame.
The CCF RaceFrame® recoil guide rod, with a 22 lb spring is offered for use in those full power calibers (40 S&W, SIG 357 & 45 GAP) with the G22, G24, G31, G35 & G37 models.
Consisting of a polymer rod, with a captive screw at the front, and employing a rubber bumper, these rods take the brunt of the shock impact at the completion of the slide’s rearward travel. These are not intended to replace the grey polymer buffers but rather supplement them, with the grey buffer serving it’s intended role of sacrificial element when the recoil guide spring has weakened.
The CCF RaceFrames® recoil guide rod will also increase the service life of the grey polymer buffer considerably. In the G22 model, with this recoil guide rod running 180 grain 40 S&W, a user can expect an 1100 – 1500 round life on the buffer, dependent on the powder charge. In the G35 model (with a longer slide and consequently more mass for the round to cycle), users are reporting 2500 – 3000 round life on the grey buffers.
Supplied assembled with a 22 lb spring, as pictured.
#00CCFRGR-00 Recoil guide rod, complete with a 22 lb spring...........................................................................$25.95
#00CCFRGR-01 Recoil guide rod, w/ rubber bumper, plastic washer & screw, without spring...................$21.95
*Footnote: Due to the rubber bumper’s length, standard length Glock® springs will not fit these rods – simply shortening a standard length Glock® spring will mean one end of the spring will not have a flat coil for a full complete 360° contact at whichever end is cut. Either the bumper will deteriorate prematurely or the washer will. Additionally, use of any light value spring, for competition purposes, voids any warranty, expressed or otherwise, as pertains to CCF RaceFrames® frames.
Recoil Maintenance Kit
For the user that wants to maintain their recoil system in accordance with industry recommended intervals, and will be replacing their guide rod spring every 3,000 rounds. With the new captive rod w/bumper, the polymer buffers should demonstrate a 1,000 round life each in 40 S&W. We’ve also included a new bumper, plastic washer & takedown (slide lock) spring. Supplied with components pictured.
